Glenn Greenwald and the other writers who contributed to this have painted a very chilling and from what some of my still homebound friends and colleagues tell me, also a very accurate picture of what's going on in my second home right now. It's chilling to think of what might happen in the next coming weeks.

I am selfishly glad that the Gray parents have left their place there and are firmly installed here with me in our passport country.

Here's the link to all of my Shannara season one reviews. Shannara Chronicles Reviews

So far it's been a very interesting 2016 and I've been more busy than I truly had expected to be. It's amazing the curveballs that life throws you sometimes. Since January, there's been some huge moving and shaking in my personal life, the Gray parents left one career and are starting new ones. Thankfully, much closer to me this time and it's been interesting to weather all the bumps in the road in this set of transitions. You don't quite know exactly how fortunate you are until you realize that you've been placed where you are, with what you have in order to be able to be there for people like this.

So the current warm body count in the Gray house is 5 and the current Cat Count is 6 (4 that belong to me and my charming, long suffering best friend/housemate and 2 that belong to the parentals). I rest assured that all of the furry ones know that without the two legged ones, there is no food.

They, however, have adopted my teenage brother as one of them. Which is hysterical to watch as the elder cats try and parent him and the younger kittens either just want to snuggle him or play all the games ever with him.

I plan on writing up my awesome experiences at AnachroCon this week and posting them here, truly it was an experience that I am so glad I was able to have. I met so many amazing people and it was pretty much just an all around great time. The next cons on the schedule will be Fandomfest and Dragon*Con unless something happens and something else gets added.

Also planning a trip to Vienna sometime in the next year or so, visit some family and actually see some of Europe. And of course any news about the books and anything else I do will get dropped here first. So there will be some much more substantive posts here in a little while.

For now, the Day Jobbe calleth, and I must answer it.

In comments, place a single word. It can be any part of the language (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, etc).

In return, I'll free write something based on that word. Might be fic, might be rambling.

Review of the Premiere is up!

101. Chosen

And for those of you who've seen it, tell me what you thought in the comments! I have a lot of thoughts so far (way more than my review word limit would allow - LOL)

It has been a while and for that, I apologize. My housemate's been ill and most of my spare time has been taken up with caring for her and the house while also working full time at the day job. So pretty much everything else that isn't a survival need has kind of been shoved to the side or dropped until she's better.

I have washed my car, gotten lunch, and now I'm settled in watching The Lost Kingdom which is so good so far.

The attention to the detail and the characterizations and the story there is fantastic. It's so much better than the Bastard Executioner which looked amazing but had no story - it was very flat and just more like a filmed version of a period photo shoot.

This though? This has depth and characterization and fantastic acting.

Based off The Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwall, so far it's a definite keeper on my DVR.

So I wrote something about the new Shannara trailer

This is the site that I will be putting up all the Shannara reviews for. Met the Editor-in-Chief during Dragon*Con and I'm super stoked about being able to do stuff like this for a show that I very dramatically hope does not not suck. Shannara is one of my favorite series and I'm so excited for this.

Eventine being played by John Rhys-Davies also really super excites me. The Elessedils are my favorite elven royalty (Wishsong destroyed me in a lot of ways) and that he's this one is amazing.

This was supposed to go up sooner, but there've been some fun power outages in the area that I live in, which is why this is going up late. Which happens sometimes when you live in the backwoods in a hobbit house.
ETA: And then I also got distracted by the moon. Oops.

So the pilot of Minority Report was very good. I'd seen some small promos for it and the fact that it had both Meagan Good and Stark Sands was enough to get me to record the pilot at least. I was not disappointed. It was a fairly solid episode, you don't actually need to have watched the movie or read the book to understand what's going on.

spoilers for the pilot )

It's crisp and perfect hoodie weather and that makes it my favorite season out of the year. Not too hot, not too cold, perfect weather for being outside. The cats slightly hate me for leaving them inside, but with it getting colder, the risk of fleas gets higher and after the Fleapocalypse of 2014, we're not taking any chances. I would like to make it through one year without risking life and limb by giving the cats flea baths if I can help it.

I always associate this time of year with new beginnings - I think it comes from fall semesters always kicking off the school year and in my head, New Year's isn't in January. It's after Labor Day and Dragon*Con heralds the coming of the new year. It's a good time for long walks and introspection and of course, writing a lot.

It also brings with it the Fall lineups - the returning shows and those that are the latest greatest shiniest new ideas that the network parade in front of us. For someone who loves watching/listening/consuming all kinds of stories, it's both the best and worst time of the year.

That being said, this is my current schedule of shows that I'll be watching.

New Shows/New Seasons:
Quantico - Sundays (the premise looks interesting even if some of the promos for it are flawed)
Minority Report - Mondays (based off the movie and worth seeing if it's good)
The Bastard Executioner - Tuesdays (It's done by the creator of Sons of Anarchy and it's a period piece - color the historian intrigued)
Blacklist - Thursday (finally our burning questions will totally not be answered in the ways we've been speculating they will be!)
The Originals - Thursday (because Vampire Diaries got too painfully bad to watch and the Mikaelsons are fascinating trainwrecks)

Things I need to Watch/Finish (mostly weekends inbetween writing):
Turn s1 & s2
Agent Carter
Sense8
Killjoys
Fringe S3-5
